AI and hiring
AI is central to how we work and that includes how we hire. We want to be transparent about how we use it, why we use it, and what you can expect in the hiring process.
Our recruiters and hiring managers use AI to work smarter:
- Consistent assessment criteria: We use AI to help build scoring frameworks that ensure every candidate is measured against the same benchmarks, supporting more consistent evaluation across our hiring team
- Skill identification: We use AI to help surface relevant skills and experience alongside traditional indicators, so your expertise gets noticed
- Interview support: We use AI to support note-taking during interviews, allowing our interviewers to stay focused on the conversation rather than writing notes
AI does not make hiring decisions at Matillion. It provides summaries and data points. Every yes and every no is a human decision.
If you join Matillion, AI will be central to how you work. We want to see your use of AI; we want to assess your AI fluency.
- Assessments and case studies: Where AI use is encouraged, we will tell you. We want to see how you prompt, iterate, and solve problems with AI.
- Your own thinking: We also want to understand your reasoning, creativity, and approach. We will always be clear when we want to hear from you directly.
- Application Review: Your CV is reviewed by our team, supported by AI-assisted skill mapping to ensure your expertise is highlighted immediately.
- Initial Screen: A conversation with a recruiter or you may be offered an on-demand AI interview. Both are weighted equally; the AI option simply allows you to move through the process at your own convenience.
- Role-Specific Assessment: For technical roles, this is a practical test. For non-technical roles, this may be a presentation or case study. We’ll tell you in advance if AI use is encouraged.
- Interviews: A series of conversations with your future Hiring Manager, peers, and key stakeholders, focused on your experience, your potential, and your alignment with our values.
- The Offer: A transparent breakdown of compensation, equity, and benefits so you can make the right decision for your career.
- Your data: We do not use candidate data, CVs, or interview responses to train AI models. Your information is handled strictly in line with global data privacy regulations, including GDPR. You can read more in our privacy policy.
